| Davos is a busy resort in a beautiful alpine playground. The village extends for several miles along the broad Landwasser River Valley between two giant mountain ranges. Since 1930, the area is known as the holiday corner of Switzerland, home to some of the best developed winter sports centers in the world. Skiing and boarding in Davos are excellent. Seven distinct ski areas have been developed in the immediate area, so snow sports enthusiasts can spend a week and ski a different resort every day. A wide selection of terrain offers satisfying skiing for all ability levels, and the area is renowned for its off-trail skiing and long cruisers. Visitors who prefer cross country skiing will find 75 km of prepared tracks to choose from. Davos also sports Europe's largest natural skating rink along with two artificial ones for ice skating, ice stick shooting and curling. Davos’ sledge slides provide hours of fun in the snow, while paragliding or hang-gliding in the midst of our majestic mountain scenery will captivate the most adventurous spirits. Davos is a cosmopolitan place. The numerous après-ski activities offered to Davos’ guests are hard to top. On a bright day, the views are stunning from the high-altitude restaurants. There are over 100 stores, several small museums, a number of art galleries and a library. There are 16 discos and other clubs, 16 bars, a movie theater, and a casino to keep you entertained. |
